Meaning of REFINER

The operation is said to have come to a successful conclusion when the refined metal reflects the image of the refiner.

God is compared to a refiner of silver: he casts his people into the furnace of affliction, and withdraws them from it when he can reflect in his conduct the divine image (Mal. 3:2, 3).
