ATHEIST

ATHEIST

The Greek term is “atheos,” lit., “without God,” and is thus translated in Ephesians (Eph. 2:12). It is used as a description of Gentiles as such by nature, and also of everyone in their ignorance of God.

It does not have the sense in which it is used today, that is, one that voluntarily refuses to recognize the existence of God.
