ELM
This is how the Reina-Valera version translates the Hebrew word “ela” in some passages such as Os. 4:13; in others he translates “cork oak” (Judges 6:11; 1 Kings 13:14); It is actually the eastern terebinth, whose fruit is the pistachio. It is also exploited for its liquid resin.
It is an extremely robust tree with a majestic appearance. Judges and kings used to gather their military and civil leaders under their shadow. Pagan rites often condemned by the prophets were also celebrated there (Gen. 35:4; 2 Kings 16:4; Is. 57:5).
