QUEMÓS
(Of uncertain etymology.)
The god of the Moabites (Num. 21:29; Jer. 48:46; cf. MESA [STELE OF], c).
He was worshiped in the same way as Molech, with little children sacrificed to him and burned alive (2 Kings 3:27).
His identity with Molech is clear from Jud. 11:24, where the god of the Ammonites (a nation closely related to Moab, cf. LOT), Molech, is called Chemosh.
