The Bible says faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. All the men listed in our scripture had this kind of confidence.
"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
Passing the buck is one of the first negative acts that entered into our world. And whenever you evade responsibility by passing it to someone else or blaming another person, you are committing a very historic iniquity.
How then do you make sure we are fine both here on earth and in the world to come? The answer to that lies in Colossians 3:23-24 which says “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
Basic humanity is characterized by foolishness, disobedience, slavery to lusts and pleasures, evil, envy and hatred. The Spirit of God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ can change all that for you once and for all.
If you are a child of God and believe in each of his words, He, among other things, will become your refuge and strength. This has several benefits. Will you take advantage of them?
Father, only by Your Word can I live the life of faith that You desire for me to live. Through Your Word I have partaken of Your divine nature, a faith nature that brings forth miracles from the unseen world.
Father, help me to live a life that pleases You in every way. I know that to please You I must first believe You. I must set aside all human logic and trust You with my whole heart. Let me be perfect in this, Father. Assist me. Train me.
Father, I know that what things so ever I desire when I pray, if I believe I receive them, I shall have them. It is Your Word to me and Your Word is unfailing truth. This gives me great confidence, Lord. I am fully confident that my expectations will be realized.
1868: On this date a political leader who grew up poor, had no formal education and was illiterate until his wife taught him to read and write, issued Proclamation 179 “granting full pardon and amnesty for the offense of treason against the United States during the late Civil War.”
Jesus came to earth with the view of offering you salvation. He wanted you to have a restored relationship with the Father, a relationship that was so close, so intimate, that you would have your special place in the Father’s house (John 14:1–4).
Scripture records that when John the Baptist began his ministry, “The people were in expectation, and all reasoned in their hearts about John, whether he was the Christ or not” (Luke 3:15).
Think of the condescension involved: the incarnation, which sliced history into two parts had more animal than human witnesses. Think, too, of the risk. In the incarnation, God spanned the vast chasm of fear that had distanced him from his human creation.
He is as certainly with us now as He was with the disciples at the lake when they saw coals of fire, fish on the coals, and bread (John 21:9). Not physically, but still in real truth, Jesus is with us!
