Salvation means rescue from the devil so you can gain access to the blessings that are in God and also secure your eternal destination. If you forsake salvation, there are many consequences.

Backbiting is essentially private slander — talking negatively about a person behind their back. The Almighty hates it with a passion. In fact, in the book of Psalms, there are special curses for anyone who slanders their neighbor.
Your 'name' as king Solomon put it in the proverb, is your reputation. And your reputation derives from your character. If you have a bad character and you are a great actor, for a while, you might enjoy a good reputation BUT one day, your reputation will match up with your real character and you will be exposed.
There is something called the 'Ax of God's judgment'. It operates in the realm of the spirit where human beings are regarded as trees capable of producing fruit. If a person's life is producing fruit in line with righteousness, there will be no judgment — meaning the ax will skip them.
Father, I know that the entirety of Your Word is truth. If You say that all of Your promises are mine in Christ Jesus, then that is what I choose to believe. This is Your righteous judgment and it endures forever
Father, I know that this day will afford me the opportunity to be offended. I know that if I look for a reason to get upset, I will find it. Help me not to do that, Lord. Help me to mimic Your ways as a true disciple.

Jesus Christ came to replace the archaic system that was in place since the days of Moses, for the atonement of sin. The old system involved a human high priest who made regular animal and blood offerings, etc. But through the death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection, He nullified the old system.
Think of the condescension involved: the incarnation, which sliced history into two parts had more animal than human witnesses. Think, too, of the risk. In the incarnation, God spanned the vast chasm of fear that had distanced him from his human creation.
He is as certainly with us now as He was with the disciples at the lake when they saw coals of fire, fish on the coals, and bread (John 21:9). Not physically, but still in real truth, Jesus is with us!
